Lebanese Christian majority leader on first time visit to Tehran

BEIRUT, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Christian majority leader MP Michel Aoun left for Tehran Sunday on his first official visit to Iran, local Ad-Diyar daily reported Monday.

Aoun, who is expected to hold talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other senior Iranian officials, told reporters at Beirut airport that his visit aims at building " friendly ties."

"Friendship with Iran is not an accusation," Aoun, a former Lebanese army commander and prime minister, said.
