MILLERSBURG -- As Americans worry about the economy and job
safety, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' September
unemployment figures showed Holmes County at the bottom of the list.
According to unemployment data, Holmes County tied for the lowest
unemployment rate in the state at 5.2 percent.
"Holmes County, in my opinion, has always been insulated because
our economy is diverse," said Holmes Job and Family Services
Director Dan Jackson.
Another reason for a low unemployment rate is the types of
businesses prevalent in the area.
"The sectors that have been hard hit are not the ones located in
