Hull: A young woman from the city is one step closer to a life at
sea after completing her basic training at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall.
Stacie King, 19, is a trainee communication and information
systems specialist.
She joined the Royal Navy in July.
Stacie has just completed nine weeks of intensive training to
turn her from a civilian into a sailor.
The course teaches recruits the basic skills they will rely on
throughout their time in the Navy.
Recruits are given a series of physical and mental challenges to
develop team-working skills.
At the end of the course the successful recruits march out before
their families and friends during their passing-out parade.
