Carl Nichols, the chief meteorologist at WDTN-TV, Channel 2 for
more than three decades, has reached age 65 and cut back his on-air
schedule. But his signature annual charity event, "Carl's Coats for
Kids" will continue full throttle.
"Retirement may be the next step," Nichols said. "But I hope to
continue working for some time, and to continue to support Channel 2
and the community."
His wife, Bernie, is spending her final year as a schoolteacher,
and Nichols said, "It just seems right for me to begin thinking
about the future."
Nichols has already cut his hours to 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays
to work the evening newscasts.
