RECENTLY there has been a renewed interest in going green, as in
concern for the environment. However in this current state of
financial uncertainty, we need to become greener on a personal
level. I am speaking of money green. As people with power attempt to
address the financial issues that could possibly affect each of us
for years to come, we the consumers are caught in a dilemma.
Consumer spending is a key element of the economy, and it will have
a difficult time recovering if consumer spending does not continue
or even grow. However, we the consumers have spent for too long,
borrowed too much and are in many cases uncertain about the
