A state Democratic Party official would only speak in
generalities when asked if the party is targeting the Senate seat in
District 20, which straddles Chandler, Ahwatukee Foothills and
Tempe.
But there are indications the district is on the Democrats' list.
The District 20 Senate seat is currently held by Sen. John
Huppenthal, the majority whip. The man trying to unseat him is
Democrat Ted Maish, a retired teacher.
Last May, the Arizona Democratic Party filed an election
complaint against Huppenthal for allegedly hiding information about
who paid for automated phone calls to district residents. The
automated calls related a message about how Huppenthal had helped
arrange surgery for a child ...
