Three years ago, Berean Christian High School cross country coach
Alan Mauldin had a group of promising freshman boys who he dubbed
the "Fab Five."
Now in their senior years, those athletes are reaching their
potential and earning the Eagles some statewide recognition. Though
they lost one of those runners when his family moved to Africa a
year and a half ago, the other four have led Berean Christian to a
No. 5 ranking in Division V.
The Eagles' top runner is Tyler Deniston, ranked third in the
state in Division V. But teammate Matthew Day has had a solid season
too, even beating Deniston in some races.
