Leesburg, Va. -- Four years ago at this time, the blue-state battleground of Wisconsin was a crossroads on the campaign highway, playing nonstop host to presidential candidates, spouses, running mates, running mates' mates and any other surrogate who could command the attention of a camera or voter.

But this time the hottest action can be found in red states such as Virginia, where Democrat Barack Obama held rallies in Richmond and northern Virginia on Wednesday.
