Article: Hearing at top level wanted

Nelson woman Judy Ashton wants her complaint about a Nelson lawyer decided by the New Zealand Law Society.

Mrs Ashton complained to the Nelson District Law Society in July about the conduct of lawyer Mark Dollimore in acting for Jonathon Allan Barclay.

Barclay was convicted of manslaughter after killing her daughter Debbie Ashton in a car crash in December 2006.

Barclay, on parole and using a new identity under the police witness protection programme, was dealt with as a first offender.

Mrs Ashton complained that Mr Dollimore failed to disclose Barclay's previous identity and criminal history in court.
