ENGLEWOOD -- The sky was a chilly gray when we pushed off early
one morning last week into the Stillwater River just below the
Englewood Dam.
It was a good morning for fishing -- if you knew what you were
doing. The guys who did landed (and released) close to two dozen
fish.
Others were, apparently, out of practice.
But it didn't matter, because we were on a river fly fishing
right here in the Miami Valley. From kayaks.
Fishing from kayaks, said Dan Schlegel, co-owner of Great Miami
Outfitters in Miamisburg, is growing fast as a sport.
Schlegel teamed up with Tom Helbig and Don Arndts from Five
Rivers MetroParks to take a couple of novices -- one with a pen,
