Kentucky's stunning double-digit loss to Gardner-Webb at Rupp
Arena last November didn't endear Billy Gillispie to Wildcats' fans.
Neither did the team's 5-6 record a third of the way into the
season.
But just when it appeared that alumni discontent had reached its
apex, Gillispie and the Wildcats found their identity in
Southeastern Conference action.
All might even have ended well if 6-foot-9 Patrick Patterson
hadn't suffered a left ankle fracture in the final two weeks of the
regular season.
