Huge electricity solicitation
The Maryland Department of General Services and the University
System of Maryland announced they are seeking a contractor to secure
1.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually over a three-
year period, to power 4,200 state-owned buildings. They include
office buildings, prisons, universities and sports arenas. The
selected contractor will purchase power on the state's behalf for
delivery in the BGE, Pepco, Delmarva Power & Light and Allegheny
Energy service areas in Maryland, beginning on July 1, 2009, and
lasting for 36 months.
