Pennsylvania Game Commission board members recently added coyotes
to the list of species able to be hunted under the Mentored Youth
Hunting Program.
The program is for youngsters under 12 who are supervised by a
licensed mentor 21 or older. The addition was recommended by the
Governor's Youth Advisory Council for Hunting, Fishing and
Conservation and the Pennsylvania Fox and Coyote Hunters
Association.
The mentor may oversee just one young hunter at a time, must
carry the one firearm permitted when moving and must ensure the
youngster hunts from a stationary position.
The MYHP enables youngsters to hunt for squirrel, woodchuck
(groundhog), spring gobbler and antlered deer. Mentored youth may ...
