Article: College Looks To Bring Public Art To City

Pennsylvania College of Art & Design wants to educate residents on the importance of public art in Lancaster city.

The college last week hired Renee Piechocki, artist and founding director for the Office of Public Art in Pittsburgh, to create guidelines Lancaster could follow to meet its goal.

At a presentation last month at the college, Piechocki suggested a public art organization should work with city government.

"The purpose of creating (a) public art action plan is to present a series of goals and steps that will guide the development of public art in Lancaster as the city implements its own plan," Piechocki told an audience that included city officials at the Oct. 28 presentation.
