Plenty of people told Joe Alexander he had no chance.
No chance to play Division I basketball. Certainly no shot to
play in the NBA.
A first-round draft pick?
You must be kidding.
But the Taiwan-born Alexander has proved them wrong so far, and
he intends to keep doing it after being selected with the No. 8
overall pick by the Bucks in the June draft.
Alexander followed a strange path, beginning with his years at
the International School in Beijing and continuing in high school in
Maryland and at Hargrave Military Academy.
Finally, West Virginia took a chance on him. He progressed in two
years under coach John Beilein but truly flourished as a junior last
season when Bob Huggins took over as ...
