Their cooking expertise is difficult to dispute: "We are two
roundish, bespectacled women who have a combined total of 114 years
of home cooking experience," they write in their latest book,
"Heirloom Cooking with the Brass Sisters" (Black Dog & Leventhal,
$29.95).
These are the Brass sisters, Sheila and Marilynn, whose latest
book took them across the country in search of family recipes and
their stories. Many dishes bear the names of their creators: Alice
McGinty's London Broil, Bunny Slobodzinski's Stuffed Cabbage with
Salt Pork Gravy, Dot's Tuna Crescents.
They were jotted down on postcards and hotel stationery, index
cards, packing slips, lined notebook paper and blank journals known
