Article: Yacht returns home for tuneup Classic Burger Boat Co. vessel to get full restoration

A rare yacht built in Manitowoc in the 1930s has returned to its home port for a full restoration.

Burger Boat Co., which built and launched the yacht 69 years ago, will restore it this winter at the company's Manitowoc shipyard.

It is among the oldest known Burger yachts still in running condition, according to the company.

Most of the equipment on the 48-foot vessel, named the Angus, is original. There's been no salt water corrosion because it has always been on fresh water -- including its most recent port of Washington Island in Door County.

Burger hopes to have the yacht restored by spring. "She is in good shape," said Ron Cleveringa, company vice president of sales and marketing.
