New artifacts from the late poet laureate Ted Hughes are set to be given to Exeter University by his widow - making the city one of the prime locations for scholars of the writer's work.

Recordings and drawings will be handed over next week to mark a decade since Mr Hughes died.

The university already holds many of his manuscripts. At an event on November 6 a recently discovered recording of Mr Hughes talking intimately of friendship, poetry and art with his close friend Leonard Baskin is to be heard in public for the first time.

The recording, from 1983 reveals the inspiration for many of his most famous works. It also gives a rarely seen glimpse of his creative personality and teasing ...
