Jamie Rowbotham scored four stunning goals as Louth Town swept
aside Thorne Colliery in the Central Midlands Football League
Premier Division on Saturday.
It was his first start in the league this season and came after a
previous four-goal blitz in the Lincolnshire Cup.
The conditions were dreadful, with driving rain and a swirling
wind doing their best to spoil the contest.
Paul Watts was just wide with a header and home keeper Robert
Chester did well to tip over a Mike Armstrong effort as Town began
strongly. But it was Thorne who snatched a shock lead after 18
minutes. Chris Myers was given too much space at the far post
following a corner and the forward gratefully prodded home.
