An emergency task force has been set up to try to solve bed-
blocking concerns at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
Dave Blackhurst looks at some of the reasons behind the problem
Relatives and GPs are being urged to do more to make sure
recovered patients are not blocking hospital beds.
Delayed discharges at the University Hospital of North
Staffordshire are the worst in the country despite a number of
measures to try to solve the problem.
But union leaders are not blaming hospital officials for the
bottlenecks.
Instead they criticise family doctors for sending patients to the
hospital too easily and relatives for delaying attempts to get
recovered patients back home or into ...
