Article: Keep off our fields, developers told

Campaigners have launched their latest bid to stop fields on the edge of Cheltenham being turned into a housing development.

About 30 people waved banners outside Tewkesbury Borough Council's offices, before yesterday's inquiry into plans to build 360 houses west of Farm Lane.

Although the site is in the parish of Shurdington, people in Leckhampton are campaigning to protect it.

Members of the Leckhampton Green Land Action Group (LEGLAG) are opposed to the plans, submitted last year by David Wilson Homes and Martin Dawn plc.

The application would have been refused by the council, but it failed to make its decision within the statutory period and the developers went to appeal.
