Volunteers are playing the generation game as young and old unite to sell poppies. Ed Hill reports.

More than six decades separate them in age but they are united by their cause.

Second World War veteran Douglas Fake and 18-year-old Rachel Harby, pictured, are the oldest and youngest members of the Royal British Legion's army of poppy-sellers in Derbyshire.

They are spanning the generation gap and raising money for those who have fought, and are still fighting, in wars that have helped to protect our country.

Mr Fake, who was awarded an MBE in 1993 for his voluntary work, is chairman and president of the legion's Ambergate, Heanor and District branch.
