Family and friends of a man who died in a car crash have paid tribute to a "great guy".

Steven Atkinson, 32, of north Hull, died after the van he was driving hit a tree in Beverley Road at about 3.45am on Saturday.

His wife, Michelle, who was also in the van, suffered serious injuries and is still recovering in Hull Royal Infirmary.

The couple had enjoyed a night out at the Ringside Pub in Beverley Road and were on their way home when the accident happened near the junction with Sutton Road.

Mr Atkinson had three children of his own and also brought up four of Michelle's children.
