The British Red Cross will be able to support more vulnerable
people after the launch of a new centre and minibus in Hull.
Jonathan Watson Hall, the High Sheriff of the East Riding, opened
the centre at Maritime House, Kingston Street, city centre,
yesterday.
It is hoped the charity will now expand its services, which
include emergency response to fires and floods, a home-from-
hospital service and help for people who have had strokes.
Ian Temple, its Yorkshire operations director, said: "The
building is located in the heart of Hull, which will be much easier
for people to find, and its design will ensure we can run services
in a more efficient way, helping us to care for more vulnerable ...
