A Radio institution is being axed to make way for a new show hosted by television presenter Peter Levy.

Bbc Radio Humberside's popular Soapbox phone-in programme has been a lunchtime mainstay at the station for more than 20 years.

But now BBC bosses have decided to scrap the daily forum for listeners to air their views.

Yesterday's Soapbox programme was the last with regular presenter Blair Jacobs also bowing out.

During the final weeks of the show listeners have been left in the dark over the future of the Soapbox format.

Instead, the station has been running regular adverts promoting the new show hosted by the Look North anchorman while giving limited details about its content.
