A couple who ran the Penhallow Hotel in Newquay, which burned to
the ground killing three people, have told how being suspected of
the blaze had "totally wrecked their lives".
Speaking of their ordeal for the first time last night, Andy
Woollam and his partner Sarah Duffy, said the past 12 months had
been "absolute torment" after they were arrested in connection with
the fire by police as part of a murder inquiry.
The couple, who ran the Cornish seaside hotel for four years, now
live in Glasgow. Police said the fire at the Penhallow Hotel was one
of "the worst in Britain for 30 years" and officers launched the
murder inquiry after finding evidence it was started deliberately.
