A 20-year-old Hull FC fan, whose first words to his family after
major heart surgery were "Have you got my cup semi-final ticket?",
has been crowned Supporter Of The Year.
The Airlie Birds were the first thing on the mind of Jed Rust, of
west Hull, when he awoke from a 16-hour operation during which
surgeons were forced to amputate his right leg due to complications.
The surgery was in June and just weeks later he watched Hull FC
beat Wakefield 32-24 in the semi-final of the Challenge Cup at
Doncaster's Keepmoat stadium.
He went on to watch the grand final against St Helens in August
at Wembley, which the Airlie Birds lost.
Today, Jed said: "Nothing was going to stop me watching Hull FC.
