Of course the Welsh know all about the bread of heaven - and
anyone at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday would have heard many a
rousing chorus.
But what about our daily bread?
For most people, it is the sliced stuff that comes out of plastic
bags. But there is more, much more, to bread than that.
One of the things I love about visiting new places is exploring
the local foods - and that includes breads.
There is an astonishing range of breads around, often reflecting
local tastes, history and ingredients - from the dark rye breads of
Germany to New York pretzels, Crescia, the savoury Easter eggy-
bread of Italy, and the lovely Sally Lunn teacakes in Bath.
