Cancer patients in East Yorkshire are taking part in a study to
see how learning to relax can help their treatment.
More than 150 patients will take part in the three-year
pounds50,000 research at the new oncology health centre at Castle
Hill Hospital in Cottingham.
One group of patients will learn relaxation techniques using
recorded instructions on tapes or CDs at home, while the other group
will take part in relaxation training sessions with a nurse at the
oncology health centre.
The findings will be published in a medical journal, which will
be accessed across the world.
Professor Leslie Walker, who is leading the study, said: "This
study has never been done before.
