WHEN I GOT the e-mail asking if I'd try a Waferatto, I waffled. I
don't really like waffles, I reasoned. I much prefer a breakfast of
whole wheat toast and eggs. Undeterred by my less-than-enthusiastic
response, the makers of Landrin Waferattos jetted samples over
straightaway.
I can't tell you how goofy I felt -- and how surprised I was --
when I pulled the lid on the elegant, orchid-embellished box. It
fell open like a flower, and out tumbled a handful of individually
wrapped bonbons (not waffles at all.)
I popped a coconut-dusted ball of white into my mouth and
instantly fell in love. The sweet, crispy candies come in two
