Jean Edgerton Hobby Holmes and Charles Taylor Cole, Jr., of New York, New York, were married Friday, October 12, 2007 at half after four o'clock at St. James Episcopal Church in Florence, Italy. The Reverend Roger Featherston officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. An organist accompanied by a string ensemble with trumpet played during the wedding.

The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin Holmes of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jean Edgerton Hobby and Mr. John Thomas Hobby, Jr. of Raleigh and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry DeVotie Holmes of Tunica, Mississippi.
