A huge voter turn out in a presidential year is typical, but
Buchanan County voters surprise officials by casting 39,471 ballots
translating to a 77.01% voter turnout.
Here is a look at the major Buchanan County races.
BUCHANAN COUNTY SHERIFF
Mike Strong won a second term as Buchanan County sheriff Tuesday
night with a victory over a sergeant in his own department.
Mr. Strong, a Democrat, defeated challenger Galen Higdon by about
2,600 votes, according to unofficial final results from the Buchanan
County Clerk's Office. Mr. Strong, 53, won 53 percent of the vote to
46 percent for Mr. Higdon.
