Article: Steger nominated for national football award

John Steger has built quite a reputation in the Northern Sun Conference as a defensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota- Duluth.

Now, he's going national.

The 45-year-old Steger, who played football at Dubuque Wahlert and co-captained the 1984 squad at Loras College, has been selected as one of four finalists for the for the first-ever FootballScoop.com NCAA Division II Coordinator of the Year award.

Chadron State College offensive coordinator Todd Auer, Pittsburg State University offensive coordinator Tim Beck and Abilene Christian College offensive coordinator Ken Collums are also up for the award. On-line voting via www.footballscoop.com will run through Dec. 5 with the winner ...
