The Western Maryland Train Station in Meyersdale, located along
the Allegheny Highlands Trail, has entertained visitors from around
the world .
"I would have never thought the train station would have turned
into something like this," said Mary Neimiller, a station volunteer.
Neimiller recalled that in the early 1990s the train station had
become an eyesore, dilapidated in just about every way and in
desperate need of a new roof. There were those in the community who
believed the best prospect for the train station was demolition, but
a few people got together and formed the Meyersdale Area Historical
Society in order to gain funding to restore the station.
