What was your cultural passion when you were 14?
It was Fame " the TV series. I just loved it. It had everything:
singing, dancing, legwarmers, let's do the show right here, right
now. A glimpse of the cultural life that some kids in New York were
having. I also used to go horse-riding every week until I was about
16, when I got interested in boys and preferred to stay in blow-
drying my hair.
What are you reading in bed?
David Nicholls' The Understudy. It's great. Very good dialogue. As
a rule I don't read a lot of novels. I usually like biographies and
autobiographies. I recently finished The Two of Us by Sheila Hancock
" a very, very moving account.
