Call it a cliche or a classic. Either way, a red dining room
makes a statement.
From the Red Room in the White House, sometimes used for small
dinners, to claret-hued walls in modern condos, the red dining room
is especially popular in the Washington area.
"It's been around a long time, hundreds of years," says designer
Michael Roberson. As homes become more casual and dining rooms get
less use or are used only at night, homeowners are more likely to
risk a dramatic color there, designers say.
Some families might say that the scene around their Thanksgiving
