THE DISTRICT
A 17-year-old Honduran youth has been sentenced to 20 years in
prison in the 2007 death of a District man. A D.C. Superior Court
judge sentenced Hernan Melendez on Friday in the fatal beating of
Andres Benitez, 30, a dishwasher at the Old Ebbitt Grill.
In May, a Superior Court jury found Melendez guilty as an adult
of assault and second-degree murder while armed.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY
A man was killed in a three-car collision Friday afternoon in
Gaithersburg, Montgomery County police said yesterday.
Mohamed Aboul-Enein, 74, died of injuries he suffered in the rush-
hour crash at Route 355 and Montgomery Village Avenue. Police said
