Dutch government to protect people with minimum incomes

BRUSSELS, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Dutch government plans to earmark 405 million euros (547 million U.S. dollars) to shore up the purchasing power of people with minimum incomes, Dutch daily De Volkskrant reported Tuesday.

Some 250 million euros (338 million dollars) has been earmarked to compensate the chronically sick and the disabled who are facing a loss of net income. The remaining 150 million euros (203 million dollars) will be spent on general tax relief.
