Dutch central bank to help recover savers' money at troubled Icelandic bank

BRUSSELS, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Dutch central bank said it is talking with the Icelandic authorities about ways to recover Dutch savers' money at the troubled Icelandic Internet savings bank Icesave, Dutch media reported Wednesday.

Icesave, which was launched in the Netherlands in May, is a subsidiary of Iceland's Landsbanki group which has been crippled by the financial crisis and was put under government protection on Tuesday.

Landsbanki has frozen all the savings accounts at Icesave, including over 1.6 billion euros (2.2 billion U.S. dollars) deposited by Dutch customers, Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad said. A ...
