Turkey commemorates 70th anniversary of Ataturk's death

ANKARA, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Turkey on Monday commemorated the 70th anniversary of the passing of its founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in solemn ceremonies around the country.

On Monday morning, thousands of Turks flocked to Ataturk's mausoleum in Turkish capital of Ankara to mourn for the founder, local Today's Zaman reported.

At 9:05 a.m. local time (0705 GMT), the exact moment of Ataturk 's death, flags flew at half-mast with car horns and sirens roaring for two minutes throughout the country.
