Cyprus problem cannot be solved overnight: UN envoy

NICOSIA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Any expectation that decades-long Cyprus problem can be solved overnight is "unrealistic," said special adviser of the UN Secretary-General Alexander Downer on Tuesday.

The former Australian foreign minister made the remarks following another meeting between Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders in the UN- controlled buffer zone in Nicosia.

Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat restarted the reunification talks in September after years of stalemate.
