The Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation in June
trained 400 New Orleans area restaurant industry workers in alcohol
and food safety training, part of a free program funded through a
$250,000 donation from Absolut Spirits Co.
The LRA aims to use the money to train 7,000 industry workers in
the 20-parish area affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Leah Chase recognized for fighting child hunger
Share Our Strength, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit focused on
eliminating childhood hunger in the U.S., honored New Orleans chef
Leah Chase during its Taste of the Nation Jazz Brunch Sunday at the
