Article: 'Moorland road without our woolworths is unthinkable'

Shoppers in Oldfield Park have expressed concern about the possible loss of one of the area's best-known stores.

Retail giant Woolworths went into administration last week and, although there are no immediate plans to close the city's only branch, in Moorland Road, customers and other traders are worried.

Former chairman of the Moorland Road Association Barry Cruse said that the street without a Woolworths was "unthinkable".

The hairdresser, who founded the traders' group, said: "For the 40 years I have worked here there has always been a Woolworths. It has become part and parcel of Moorland Road. Moorland Road without a Woolworths is unthinkable.
