Building work at Torbay Hospital's emergency department has been
completed.
The accident and emergency centre has been extended to cope with
increasing numbers of patients after 10 months of building work
costing pounds750,000.
The improvements include a new minor injury treatment area,
accommodation for the GP out-of-hours service, extra examination
space, a new waiting and play area for children, and GP consulting
rooms which can also be used as hospital clinic space.
The hospital has now almost doubled its emergency assessment unit
capacity and strengthened resources for patients needing urgent
diagnosis.
