The Court Theatre's new production of La Cage aux Folles requires
much more than an ability to act. BECK ELEVEN reports on life back
stage.
Brassieres, boas and fishnet stockings abound in the musical that
amps up the camp, La Cage aux Folles.
The problem is that with 18 actors and a wardrobe full of costume
changes, the flamboyant outfits must be whipped off and on,
sometimes in under a minute.
The production, directed by Sandra Rasmussen, plays out the life
of Georges and his drag-performer partner Albin, proprietors of the
French cabaret club La Cage aux Folles. The laughs are dished up
when, after Georges' son announces he will marry the daughter of a
conservative politician crusading ...
