Article: STREET TALK ; Providence Bank plans downtown retail branch

Providence Bank is set to open its first retail branch in Columbia later this month.

The bank is moving into the former Columbia Municipal Employees Credit Union building at 8 N. Fifth St., less than a block north of Broadway. Twin Corners LLC, a partnership that includes Tom Mendenhall, Gary Evans and John McGee, purchased the property in July from the credit union, which now is located at 310 E. Walnut St.

Providence Bank entered into a lease-purchase agreement with Twin Corners in August, bank President Brett Burri said. The branch is scheduled to be open by the end of the month, and it will have a staff of five. "I'm excited to have our first retail location in Columbia," Burri said.
