City rule breaker and Grimsby's wealthiest son, David Ross, has stepped down as chairman of Cosalt Plc.

The move is at the request of the board, and was announced yesterday afternoon, and broken on www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk

However, local school Havelock believes Mr Ross will remain sponsor of the academy "and has no reason to suspect otherwise."

The 43-year-old, with an estimated fortune of pounds873-million, will remain a director of Cosalt.

In a statement released to the City, Cosalt said the Board's decision "has been taken in light of the events concerning Mr Ross' shareholding in the company and the review by the committee appointed by the Board to look into them".
