Article: Former Carnegie mayor devoted himself to town, family

After his father died, Dan Falcioni remembered the Bowman Steel green coveralls and playing catch.

Al Falcioni's coveralls were always dirty, and he typically looked tired from work.

But the son was eagerly waiting on summer days, glove and baseball in hand. When Dad came home to Carnegie, Dad played catch. No matter what.

"He was always there for that," said Dan Falcioni of Carnegie. "I played amateur softball in my early 20s, and I don't think he ever missed a game."

Mr. Falcioni died from complications of diabetes on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, in his home in the western suburb's Cubbage Hill section. He was 84.
