Backgrounder: EU member states which have ratified Lisbon Treaty

BRUSSELS, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Treaty of Lisbon, which was signed on Dec. 13, 2007 in the Portuguese capital, has to be ratified by all the 27 member states of the European Union (EU) to enter into force. So far, 25 member states have completed the ratification, with Ireland and the Czech Republic the only exceptions.

The Irish electorate rejected the treaty in a referendum in June with 53.4 percent voting against and 46.6 percent in favor.
