Winfield and Logan look to hit the ground running in boys basketball tonight as they begin their seasons as Class AAA programs.

The Generals meet up with St. Albans at approximately 8:10 in the West Virginia Hoops Classic at the Civic Center, while the Wildcats visit county rival Man at 7:30 as boys basketball season opens around the state.

Both Winfield and Logan have been major players in Class AA over the past few seasons, with the Generals capturing a state title in 2004 and the Wildcats taking home the trophy in 2005 and finishing as state runner-up in 2007.

Winfield loses three starters off a squad that won 21 of 25 games and played in the regionals, but was forced to forfeit 12 ...
